4040 RO Membrane Housing: What You Need to Know Before Buying It
I just tried to install a new 4040 RO membrane housing, and man, it was an experience. I’ve been meaning to upgrade my water filtration system for a while now, you know, to get rid of all those nasty things floating in the water. So, I finally bit the bullet and ordered this heavy-duty stainless steel housing. Sounded fancy, right?
First off, I gathered all the stuff I needed. The housing, of course, the RO membrane itself, some stainless steel U-clamps, and the end caps. I made sure I had everything laid out before I started. You don’t want to be halfway through and realize you’re missing something.
So, the first thing I did was to put the inlet end cap on the RO membrane housing. It was pretty straightforward, just needed to make sure it was snug and secure. This housing is supposed to handle some serious water pressure, so I wanted to make sure everything was tight and solid from the start.
Next, I installed the stainless steel U-clamps where the inlet end cap meets the housing. These clamps are what really hold everything together, so you want to make sure they’re on there good. I followed the instructions, but honestly, it wasn’t rocket science. Just tighten those bad boys up, and you’re good to go. It is important to install the U-clamps in the right place, otherwise there will be a big problem.
The pressure game
- Understanding Water Pressure: I also had to think about the water pressure, since that’s what makes the whole RO process work. If the pressure is too low, the filtration won’t be as good. I had read somewhere that low pressure can mess with the flow rate and efficiency. Luckily, my home water pressure was within the range.
- Checking Conductivity: I even got into testing the water quality with electrical conductivity. I mean, it is about water quality, right? I learned that pure water doesn’t conduct electricity well. So, the less conductive, the better. I used a conductivity meter I borrowed from a friend.
After all that work, I can honestly say that the water quality has improved dramatically. Before, I had to boil water or buy bottled water, but now the water is good. It’s a great feeling to finally have a reliable filtration system in place. I feel like I have done something really good for my family.
