RO Membrane and Filter: A Simple Guide to Get the Best Drinking Water.

I’ve been meaning to upgrade my home water filtration system for a while now. You see, the tap water where I live, it is not exactly the best. So, I finally decided to take the plunge and get into the world of RO membranes and filters. Let me tell you, it was quite the journey.

First off, I started digging around to understand what this whole “reverse osmosis” thing was all about. Turns out, it is a pretty neat process where you basically force water through a special membrane to filter out all the gunk. I read somewhere that it can remove almost 98% of contaminants. Impressive, right? They say it removes bacteria, so I think that is the reason it is often used as clean drinking water, and for cooking, or even pet care.

So, I went ahead and ordered a whole setup – the membrane, the filters, the whole shebang. When the package arrived, I felt like a kid on Christmas morning. I cleared out the space under my sink, which was a bit of a chore itself, and got to work.

The installation process was a bit tricky. I mean, I am not exactly a plumber, but I followed the instructions, watched a few videos, and managed to get everything hooked up. There was a bit of trial and error, a few leaks here and there, but eventually, I got it all sorted. I picked a 100 GPD RO membrane, because through some digging, I found that under same temperature and pressure, the output water from 100 GPD RO membrane is higher than 50 GPD one, so I chose 100 GPD.

Once everything was in place, I turned on the faucet, and let me tell you, the difference was like night and day. The water, it just tasted so much cleaner, so much purer. No more weird chlorine taste. It was like drinking water from a mountain spring.

Here are a few things I learned along the way:

  • Choosing the right membrane: There are different types of membranes out there, each with its own pros and cons. You have got to do your research and pick the one that suits your needs.
  • Pre-filters are your friends: These filters go before the main RO membrane and they help protect it from larger particles. They are definitely worth it.
  • Maintenance is key: Like any system, RO systems need regular maintenance. You have got to change the filters and clean the membrane every so often to keep things running smoothly.

All in all, getting into RO membranes and filters was a bit of an adventure, but it was totally worth it. Now I have got clean, great-tasting water right from my tap, and I do not have to worry about any nasty stuff in my water anymore. If you are thinking about upgrading your water filtration system, I highly recommend giving it a go.
