Today, I messed around with a reverse osmosis thing, also called an RO membrane. This one is the CSM brand. Let me tell you, it was quite a day.
First off, I got this CSM RO membrane. I heard it’s pretty good for those big, industrial water purifier machines. So, I thought, “Why not give it a shot?” I got my hands on the 80 GPD model. GPD stands for gallons per day, by the way.
I started by taking the old membrane out of the RO machine. It was kind of gross, all slimy and stuff. Then, I had to figure out how to put the new CSM one in. It wasn’t super straightforward, I gotta admit. I fumbled around a bit, trying to get it to fit just right.
After some wrangling and a few choice words, I finally got the new membrane in place. Then came the moment of truth. I turned the water back on and held my breath. I watched as the water started flowing through the system. I checked for leaks, and guess what? No leaks! Success!
- Getting the membrane: First, I had to find a place that sold these things. It wasn’t as easy as going to the grocery store, that’s for sure.
- Taking out the old one: This was the messy part. Old membranes are not pretty.
- Putting in the new one: This took some patience and a little bit of elbow grease.
- Testing it out: The best part was seeing it work and knowing I did it myself.
I let the water run for a while, just to make sure everything was working okay. I even tasted the water afterward. It tasted… well, like water, which is exactly what it should taste like! I guess that means the membrane is doing its job.
My Thoughts
Honestly, the whole process was a bit of a hassle, but it was also kind of rewarding. I learned a lot about how these RO systems work. Plus, I saved myself some money by doing it myself instead of calling a professional. Would I do it again? Maybe. It depends on how lazy I’m feeling the next time the membrane needs to be replaced. But overall, I’d say the CSM membrane seems to be doing a pretty good job so far.
