How Long to Flush RO Membrane: A Quick Guide for You!
Alright, let’s talk about flushing my RO membrane. I wasn’t sure how often to do this, so I did some digging around.
I found out that for drinking water systems like mine, it’s a good idea to flush them every 3 to 6 months. I mean, I had no idea at first and just went with it.
First Steps
First, I turned off the water supply to the system. You know, the little valve under the sink. Then, I opened the faucet to let out any remaining water pressure.
- Turn off the water supply valve.
- Open the faucet to release pressure.
Flushing It Out
Next, I disconnected the tubing that goes from the membrane housing to the storage tank. I just carefully pulled the tube from its fitting.
After that, I reconnected the water supply by turning the valve back on. I was a little nervous, to be honest.
With the water back on, I let it run through the membrane housing and out the disconnected tube for a good 30 minutes. I watched the water flow, and it was initially a bit cloudy, but that’s normal, they said.
Putting It Back Together
After 30 minutes, I turned off the water supply again. Then, I reconnected the tubing to the storage tank, making sure it was secure. Finally, I opened the faucet and let the water run for another 5 minutes. This is to make sure all the air is out of the system, I guess.
That’s it! I successfully flushed my RO membrane. It wasn’t too bad, and now I know how to do it regularly to keep my water clean and the system working well.
