Big blue water filter replacement: Simple steps for clean water!

Okay, so, I’ve got this Big Blue water filter at home, and it was time to swap out the old filter for a new one. Here’s how it went down.

First things first, I had to shut off the main water supply to the filter. You don’t want a surprise shower, trust me. Once that was done, I went to the faucet that’s furthest away from the filter housing and turned it on. This helps release any built-up pressure.

Then, looking at the filter housing, I could see the bottom part – that’s where all the gunk settles. I carefully unscrewed it and gave it a good rinse. It’s surprising how much stuff collects in there!

Next, I spotted this O-ring thingy at the top of the housing. I pulled it out gently and wiped it down. It’s important to keep this clean for a good seal.

  • Find the filter housing: It’s usually a big blue thing, hence the name!
  • Locate the “IN” and “OUT” markings: These are on the top of the housing, super important for when you put everything back together.
  • Mount the housing: This is done using the bracket provided when you installed the system.

There is also a button on the top of the housing. When pressed, it releases the pressure from inside the housing.

Putting in the New Filter

With the housing all cleaned up, I grabbed the new filter and carefully set it in place. You gotta make sure it’s sitting right, or it won’t do its job properly.

Then, I carefully screwed the bottom part of the housing back on, making sure the O-ring was still in its place. I tightened it just enough – not too much, or you risk damaging it.

Finally, I slowly turned the main water supply back on. I kept an eye out for any leaks, but everything looked good. I let the water run for a few minutes just to flush out any air and make sure the new filter was working its magic.

And that’s it! Not too bad, right? Now, we have good, clean water, and I know the filter will last a good while according to the manufacturer.
