Big Blue House Filter Installation Easy Step-by-Step Instructions

Okay, so I recently got into this whole home water filtration thing, and let me tell you, it’s been a bit of a journey. I decided to go with the “Big Blue” system because, well, it’s big and blue, and it seemed like it could handle the job. Plus, I liked the idea of treating all the water in my house at once.

First off, I had to figure out where to even put this thing. The instructions said to find a spot in my water treatment system, and luckily the cap is marked “IN” and “OUT”, which is helpful. I ended up installing it right after the main water line comes into the house. I mounted it to a bracket I got using these screws that came with it. I made sure to follow the flow direction marked on the housing – wouldn’t want to mess that up!

Then came the actual filtering part. I learned that it’s not just about slapping in one filter and calling it a day. Apparently, there’s a whole sequence you should follow to get the best results. I started with a pre-filter, you know, to catch all the big chunks and sediment. Next, I put in an iron removal filter, because who wants rusty water, right? After that, I added an activated carbon filter – this is supposed to help with the chlorine taste and any weird smells. And, since I’m a bit extra, I even threw in a fine filter at the end, just for that extra polish.

Let’s talk about changing these filters, because that’s something you gotta do regularly.

  • First thing’s first, I turned off the main water supply. Don’t want any surprise showers while you’re working on this!

Honestly, the whole process took me a weekend, mostly because I was taking my time and triple-checking everything. Now that it’s all set up, though, I gotta say, I’m pretty happy with it. The water tastes better, doesn’t have that weird chlorine smell anymore, and I feel good knowing that my whole house is getting the good stuff. If you’re thinking about getting a water filter, I’d say do your research, figure out what your water needs, and don’t be afraid to get your hands a little dirty!
