20 Big Blue Sediment Filter Guide: Get the Best Water Quality Now!
Okay, so the other day I decided to get my hands dirty and work on my home’s water filtration system. I’ve been meaning to check out this 20 big blue sediment filter thing for a while now. It’s supposed to be a real game-changer for getting all that nasty stuff out of the water before it hits the taps.
First things first, I gathered all my tools and the new filter. It’s a pretty hefty cartridge, 20 inches long. I made sure the water supply to the house was turned off – wouldn’t want any surprise showers! Then, I located the filter housing, which was easy enough to spot since I installed it.
Next, I used the housing wrench to loosen it up. Inside, I found the old filter, which was pretty gross, all clogged up with sediment, dirt, and who knows what else. You could really see how much gunk it had been trapping. It was definitely time for a change. I pulled out the old filter and gave the inside of the housing a quick wipe down.
- Took the new 20-inch filter out of its packaging.
- Carefully slide it into the housing, making sure it was nice and snug.
- Screwed the housing back onto the main unit, making sure it’s tight.
A Little Time to Get Things Running
Once everything was back together, I slowly turned the water back on, keeping an eye out for any leaks. I heard water fill the housing, then ran the nearest faucet to get rid of any trapped air. At first, the water was a bit cloudy, but it quickly cleared up.
I let the water run for a good few minutes, just to make sure everything was flowing smoothly. The water pressure seemed a bit better, which was a nice bonus. I checked all around the filter housing again – no leaks, so that was a good sign.
The water tasted better, and I could tell it was a lot cleaner. All in all, it wasn’t too tough of a job. Just a bit of elbow grease and some basic tools.
Honestly, I’m pretty happy with how it all went. Knowing that my family now has cleaner water flowing through the house is a great feeling. Plus, I saved some money by doing it myself instead of calling a plumber. If you’re thinking about tackling your own water filter, I’d say go for it. It’s really not as hard as it might seem!
