Pentair Big Blue Filter Cartridges Review: Are They Worth Your Money?

Okay, here is my sharing about “pentair big blue filter cartridges” today.

So, I decided to get my hands dirty and install a whole-house water filter system. I live in an older house, and the water quality… well, it’s not great. It always has a weird smell and leaves stains. After some digging around, I went with the Pentair Big Blue system. I figured it was a solid choice based on some reviews I read. And people said it’s good for removing that nasty smell in the water. That’s what I am looking for.

First things first, I had to gather all the materials. The Big Blue system came with the housing, but I needed to pick up the filter cartridges separately. They’ve got different types for different issues, you know? I chose a sediment filter to catch all the big junk floating around, a CTO filter for general taste and odor improvement, and one specifically for chloramine removal ’cause that’s a big thing in my area. It’s like a three-stage system for cleaner water.

The installation process was a bit of a pain, I won’t lie. I’m not exactly the handiest person, but I managed to follow the instructions. Shutting off the main water supply was the first, and the most critical, step. Once that was done, I installed it into my water pipes and tried to get the housing mounted securely. Getting the cartridges in place was the easiest part. They just slide right in. I chose the 20-inch size. It said that it can reduce iron. I think it’s suitable for my house.

After everything was connected, I slowly turned the water back on, checking for leaks. Thankfully, there were none! I let the water run for a few minutes to flush out the system and get rid of any air bubbles. The best part? No more weird smells when I turn on the tap! And the water tastes noticeably better too.

  • What I used:
  • Pentair Big Blue filter housing
  • Sediment filter cartridge
  • CTO filter cartridge
  • Chloramine filter cartridge

This is just my personal experience. I’m not saying it’s perfect, but it’s definitely made a difference in my home. And the good thing is that I can switch to the other filter easily. I think it’s a good choice for me.

Anyway, that’s my little adventure with the Pentair Big Blue filter cartridges. It’s a bit of work upfront, but it is worth it. Hope this helps anyone thinking about doing something similar! It’s good for me to keep these records. It feels good.
