Why You Need a pentair pentek big blue 1 inch npt filter – Ultimate Water Filter
Okay, so let me tell you about this whole house water filter setup I did. I went with the Pentair Pentek Big Blue, the one with the 1-inch NPT filter.
It all started because the water at my place was, well, not great. I was tired of dealing with that, I wanted to have good water quality at home, so I figured a whole house filter was the way to go. I did some digging around, asked some friends and read other people’s feedback, and this Big Blue kept popping up. Seemed like a solid choice, and a lot of folks were saying good things about it.
First thing I did was order the thing. It’s pretty hefty, not some flimsy little filter. Once it arrived, I cleared out a Saturday and got to work. The installation wasn’t too bad, honestly. I mean, I’m no plumber, but I can follow instructions. This model has these 1-inch NPT connections, which is good because it means it can handle a decent amount of water flow. My main water line is 1 inch too, so it matched perfectly.
- Shut off the main water: Obviously, this is step one. Don’t want a surprise shower.
- Picked a spot: I put it in the basement, right after the main shut-off valve. Figured that was the most logical place.
- Cut the pipe: Yeah, this was a bit nerve-wracking, but I measured twice (maybe three times) and made the cuts.
- Installed the filter housing: This was pretty straightforward. Used some pipe thread sealant, screwed everything in tight. It’s got this pressure relief button, which is supposed to make changing the filter easier. We’ll see about that later.
- Turned the water back on: Held my breath, no leaks! Always a good sign.
I flushed the system for a bit, just like the instructions said. Initially, the water was a little cloudy, probably just from the new filter and stuff. But it cleared up pretty quick.
The Results
Honestly, I noticed a difference right away. Now this filter is doing its job. And it’s supposed to last a while, which is good because I don’t want to be changing it every other month. They say the clear housing lets you see when the filter needs changing, so that’s a plus, I will keep my eyes on that.
So, yeah, that’s my Big Blue filter story. It wasn’t too painful to install, and it seems to be doing the trick. If you’re thinking about a whole house filter, I’d say give this one a look. It’s early days, but so far, so good! I plan to keep this going for the long haul because good water is pretty important for just about everything around the house.
