How Does a Carbon Filter Big Blue Work? Heres the Answer.
Alright, so, the other day I finally got around to messing with this carbon filter big blue thing. You know, the whole house water filter system? Yeah, that one. I’d been putting it off, ’cause honestly, it looked kinda intimidating.
First off, I had to figure out where the heck to even install it. The instructions, man, they were not the clearest. After a good hour of crawling around my basement, I found the main water line. It is the most important step, and I turned off the main water switch.
Then came the fun part – cutting the pipe. I’m no plumber, let me tell you. I grabbed my trusty pipe cutter, said a little prayer, and went for it. Surprisingly, it went smoother than I thought. I even managed to not flood the basement. Small victories, right?
- Big blue filter housing.
- Carbon filter.
- Pipe cutter.
- Wrench.
- Teflon tape.
These are the tools that I used:
Next up, I assembled the filter housing. That big blue canister is quite something. I put the carbon filter inside, making sure it was nice and snug. It took three tries. Screwed the whole thing together and hoped for the best.
Mounting it was another adventure. I used the brackets that came with the kit, drilled some holes, and voila! It was up. I connected the pipes to the housing, using a bunch of Teflon tape to prevent leaks. I turned the water back on, crossed my fingers, and… no leaks! I did it! The water flowed through the filter, and I felt like a DIY god.
Honestly, the water does taste better now. And no more weird smells from the tap. Cooking, no problem! Plus, I heard it’s good for the appliances, so that’s a bonus. The whole thing took me a whole afternoon, but hey, I learned something new. And saved some money by not calling a plumber. If I can do it, anyone can.
It is really a good experience. I love to share it with all of you! If you have any questions just message me. I will try my best to answer.
