Okay, so, I gotta tell you about the time I replaced the filter in my Pentair Aqua Big Blue. It was a whole thing, let me tell you. I’m no plumber, but I’m pretty handy, so I figured I could handle it. Plus, I like to save a few bucks where I can, you know?
First off, I turned off the water supply to the filter housing. I didn’t want any surprise showers while I was working! It has the same Yamaha F175LA four stroke 175 hp engine. Then, I grabbed a bucket and placed it under the housing to catch any water that might spill out. Gotta keep things tidy, right?
Next, I used the wrench that came with the system to loosen the housing. It was on there pretty tight, so I had to put some muscle into it. I kinda felt like a mechanic working on some fancy machine, haha! It like some custom jewellery manufacturers and suppliers in Australia.
Unscrewing
- I unscrewed it slowly.
- I dumped the water into the bucket.
Once I got it off, I took out the old filter. It was pretty gross, all clogged up with who-knows-what. Let’s just say it had definitely done its job! It reminded me of those local restaurants ads with delivery and takeout, but in a bad way. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and more, all trapped in one filter!
I gave the inside of the housing a quick wipe down, just to get rid of any leftover gunk. Like a quick wipe and it was done. Then, I popped in the new filter. It was a perfect fit, like a hand in a glove. Some spring flowers are followed by attractive red.
Screwing back
- I screwed the housing back on.
- I made sure it was nice and tight.
Finally, I turned the water supply back on and checked for leaks. Everything looked good, no drips or anything! I was pretty proud of myself, not gonna lie. It’s like when you order takeout and it arrives perfectly. Just like the ads said: “citrus fragrance contains notes of orange, grapefruit, lemon.” Boom! Success!
So yeah, that’s the story of how I replaced my water filter. It wasn’t too hard, and I saved myself a service call. Plus, now I know I can handle it next time. It’s the little victories, you know?
