UV Sterilizer Water Benefits: What You Should Know About Them.
Okay, so I wanted to get into this whole UV sterilizer for water thing. You know, clean water, peace of mind, all that good stuff. I did some digging around, read a bunch of stuff online, and decided to just go for it.
First off, I gotta say, there are tons of these things out there. Different sizes, different prices, different, well, everything. I ended up going for a medium-sized one. Figured it was a good starting point.
Getting it was easy peasy. Ordered it online, showed up at my door a few days later. I ripped open the box like a kid on Christmas morning. Inside, there was the sterilizer unit itself, a power adapter, and some instructions that, honestly, were not super helpful. But hey, I’m pretty good at figuring things out, so no biggie.
The sterilizer itself was basically a stainless steel tube with some connectors on each end. My plan was to install it in my water line, you know, so it would sterilize all the water coming into my house. Seemed like a good idea at the time.
- Step one: turn off the main water supply. I definitely did not want a surprise shower.
- Step two: pick a spot to install the thing. I chose a section of pipe in my basement that was pretty accessible.
- Step three: cut the pipe. This was a bit nerve-wracking, but I managed to do it without messing anything up too badly.
- Step four: connect the sterilizer to the pipe. This involved some pipe fittings and a whole lot of Teflon tape to prevent leaks.
- Step five: plug in the sterilizer and turn the water back on.
I held my breath, turned the valve, and… no leaks! I was pretty proud of myself, not gonna lie. I let the water run for a few minutes, just to flush out the system, and then I poured myself a big glass of water.
Did it taste different?
Nope. Did I feel any different? Not really. But I had this feeling that I was drinking super clean water, and that was pretty cool. Plus, it gave me a good project to work on, and I learned a thing or two about plumbing.
I’ve been using it for a while now, and so far, so good. No weird illnesses, no funny tastes, nothing. It’s just clean water, and I’m happy with that. If you are looking for a good project, and cleaner water, maybe you can give it a try, too.
It is not a big deal, but make sure to do a check for leaks every so often. You never know. I have learned that keeping a check on the important things can save a lot of trouble later. So far, I have been happy with this simple addition to my home.
