Alright, folks, let’s talk about my little adventure with a RO water filter membrane. I’m no expert, just a regular guy trying to get the best water I can, and decided to try it and share the process with you all!

Getting Started

First, I got myself a standard RO water filter system. It was one of those under-sink types. I’m not gonna lie, the whole thing looked a little intimidating at first, with all the tubes and connections. But, hey, I was determined.

The Installation Process (The Fun Begins!)

I turned off the main water supply – super important, unless you want a surprise shower in your kitchen. Then, I followed the instructions that came with the system. I am not very good at instruction, but I think I did well.

• I connected the system to my cold water line. This involved a little bit of plumbing work, mostly just tightening some fittings.
• I mounted the filter unit under my sink. The kit came with some mounting hardware, which made it pretty straightforward.
• I installed the separate faucet for the filtered water. This was probably the trickiest part, as I had to drill a hole in my countertop. Note to self: measure twice, drill once!
• With everything connected, I slowly turned the water supply back on. This is where I held my breath, hoping for no leaks. Luckily, everything seemed good!

The Membrane Part

Now, for the heart of the system – the membrane. My system came with a membrane already in its housing. I made sure it was properly seated. Then double check that the membrane housing was nice and tight. No leaks wanted there!

After carefully checking all connections again, I flushed the system. The instructions said to run water through it for a good 10-15 minutes to get rid of any manufacturing residues or anything like that. It’s like giving the whole system a good rinse before you start using it.

Testing and Enjoying!

After the flushing, I finally got to taste the water. It was not a very big difference, but I felt it was a very good try, and I might buy a new one to replace in the future!
