Applied Membranes RO Systems: How to Choose the Right One for Your Home or Business.
Okay, so I’ve been messing around with these Applied Membranes RO systems lately, and let me tell you, it’s been a bit of a journey. I needed a good water filtering setup at home. You know, something to get rid of all the junk in the tap water.
I started by looking into these things called “reverse osmosis” systems, or RO for short. Seemed like the way to go. Did a bunch of reading, watched some videos. I saw a line somewhere that mentioned something about “continuous supply of clean” and I thought that is good. It looks like they have carbon too. That’s cool. They even have a setup for seawater. I decided this was what I wanted.
Then came the hard part – picking the right one. Man, there are so many options! Different types of membranes, different sizes, different brands. I got a little overwhelmed, to be honest. I read somewhere that Dow, Toray, GE, and a few others are the names you can trust, so I started there. I also found out that there are so many types of reverse osmosis membranes. I don’t need this confusing stuff.
I ended up calling a couple of those “water treatment experts” I read about online. Just wanted to get some advice. They started talking about all these technical details, like “thin film” and “semi-permeable.” They were saying stuff like how the membrane blocks “sodium,” “chlorine,” and “bacteria.” I also found out that the price is all over the place.
I mostly just nodded along, pretended I knew what they were talking about. But hey, they did help me narrow it down a bit. In the end, I chose a system from Applied Membranes. It’s not too big, not too small, and supposedly it fits most standard setups. Fingers crossed, right?
Getting it installed was another adventure. I tried to do it myself at first, but that was a mistake. Water everywhere. I am bad at this stuff. Called a plumber, he came over, sorted it out in like an hour. Should’ve done that from the start, I guess.
Now that it’s up and running, I have to say, I’m pretty happy with it. The water tastes way better, and I feel a little better knowing I’m not drinking all that tap water nonsense. So yeah, that’s my RO system story. It wasn’t the smoothest ride, but I got there in the end.
If you’re thinking about getting one of these things, here’s my two cents:
- Do your research: There’s a lot to learn about RO systems. Figure out what you need before you buy.
- Don’t be afraid to ask for help: Those water expert guys can be useful, even if they talk a little over your head. I need to talk to the right one.
- Maybe don’t try to install it yourself: Unless you’re really good at plumbing. I mean, really good. Call the plumber if you need to. There is no shame in asking for help.
Anyway, that’s all I’ve got. Hope this helps someone out there!
