Best Big Blue Canister Water Filter for 2023: We Tested Them to Find the Ultimate Choice.
Okay, here’s my post about installing a big blue canister water filter:
So, I finally got around to putting in one of those big blue water filters. You know, the kind that filters your whole house’s water? Yeah, it was a bit of a project, but I figured it out, and my water tastes way better now. Here’s how it all went down.
First off, I went to the hardware store and picked up the filter housing itself. It’s this big blue canister thing, pretty hefty. I also grabbed some fittings, pipes, and a pressure gauge ’cause I wanted to keep an eye on the water pressure after the filter was in.
Next, I shut off the main water supply to the house. Safety first, right? Then I picked a spot on the main water line where I wanted to install the filter. I made sure it was a place I could easily get to later for changing the filter cartridges.

Now came the fun part. I cut into the main water line and started fitting the pipes and the filter housing together. It took a bit of elbow grease, and I definitely made a few trips back to the hardware store for extra fittings, but eventually, I got it all connected. I used that Teflon tape stuff on all the threads to make sure there weren’t any leaks.
Once everything was hooked up, I slowly turned the water back on, checking for leaks along the way. I tightened a few fittings here and there, but overall, it held up pretty well. There it is, producing 100 litres of fresh. That kind of water purification. It felt good to see it all working.
- Turned on the faucet.
- Checked the water pressure on the gauge.
- Let the water run for a few minutes to flush out the new filter.
And that’s pretty much it! Now, whenever I turn on a faucet in the house, I know the water’s been through that big blue filter. It’s a good feeling. Honestly, if I can do this, anyone can. Just take your time, double-check everything, and don’t be afraid to ask for help at the hardware store. They’ve seen it all.
