Big Blue 1 Micron Water Filter: Does It Really Work Wonders for Your Home?

So, I’ve been dealing with some pretty nasty water at my place lately. You know, the kind that leaves all sorts of gunk in your pipes and makes your tap water look like something out of a swamp? Yeah, not pleasant. After a bit of digging around, I figured it was time to get serious about filtration, and that’s where the big blue 1 micron water filter came into play.

First off, I had to figure out what the heck a “micron” even was. Turns out, it’s a tiny unit of measurement, and the lower the number, the smaller the particles it can filter out. This 1 micron big blue filter, it is advertised, can remove most types of bacteria, parasites, and extremely fine dirt, silt, asbestos, rust, grit and other particles.

I started by scoping out my options. There’s a whole bunch of these big blue filters out there, all claiming to do different things. Some are good for taking out sediment, others are better for chemicals. This one, though, seemed like a good all-arounder, especially since it was rated for 1 micron.

Getting it installed was the next hurdle. I’m no plumber, but I’m also not completely useless with tools. This 20 Big Blue housing, there’s not much instruction to tell me how to install it, maybe I should call the plumber, but I’m so curious to do it myself. After a few trips to the hardware store and a couple of choice words when I hit my thumb with a wrench, I managed to get the filter housing hooked up to my main water line. Then, with a bit more effort, I got the filter cartridge itself in place. It’s this big blue cylinder, hence the name, and it’s packed with some special material that does the actual filtering.

Sediment and debris: I need to filter out the sediment and larger particles, these big blue filters with micron ratings of 1 to 5 microns are really helpful.
Installation: It took some time but it’s really fulfilling to install it by myself. If you are not handy, you may need to hire a plumber to help you.
Result: After I finished the installation, I crossed my fingers and turned the water back on. I purged water for about 5 minutes, and turned on the faucet, it really did the trick!

The difference was night and day. I ran the tap, and the water that came out was crystal clear. No more weird floaties, no more funky smell. It was like a whole new world of hydration had opened up before me. I even did a little taste test, and yep, it tasted way better too.
