Big Blue Cartridge Filter Housing Installation: Easy DIY Guide That Anyone Can Follow

Alright, folks, gather ’round! Today, I’m gonna walk you through my little adventure with a big blue cartridge filter housing. Now, I ain’t no expert, but I managed to get this thing up and running, so I figure I’d share my experience. You know, just in case any of you are thinking about getting one of these bad boys.

First things first, I had to figure out where to put this thing. It’s part of my water treatment system, so I needed to find a good spot in the line. Luckily, the cap of the housing has “IN” and “OUT” markings on top, which made it pretty straightforward to understand which way the water should flow. I found a pretty decent location where the whole system sits snugly.

Mounting the Beast

Next up was mounting the housing. I had this bracket, and I used it to secure the housing. It’s got these screws, and I just fastened them onto the bracket, making sure the “IN” and “OUT” were aligned with the direction I wanted the water to go. Nothing too complicated there, just a bit of elbow grease.

Getting the Cartridge In

Now, this was a bit trickier. You gotta put the filter cartridge inside the housing. I found some guides, but honestly, it was pretty intuitive. I had the cartridge in hand, and I slipped it right into the housing. Make sure it fits snugly in there; you don’t want any leaks.

Connecting the Pipes

After I put the cartridge in, I just connected the pipes to the “IN” and “OUT” parts of the housing. They had these fittings, and I just tightened them up real good. I made sure the connections are all watertight, and there are no leaks from the connections.

Testing Time

With everything connected, it was time for the moment of truth. I turned the water back on, slowly at first, just to make sure there were no surprise leaks. Thankfully, everything held up nicely. I let the water run for a bit, just to flush out any air or debris from the installation.

Maintenance Stuff

Now, about changing the filter. From what I’ve read, the housing itself can last a good long while. Some folks say they only replace theirs after four or five years. As for the cartridge, I’ve seen recommendations to change it every so often, maybe around every hundred or so, depending on your water quality and usage. I’ll probably just keep an eye on the water flow and clarity and change it when it seems like it’s getting a bit clogged up.

So, there you have it. That’s my experience with installing a big blue cartridge filter housing. It wasn’t rocket science, just a bit of DIY fun. Hope this helps anyone out there thinking about doing the same!
