Big Blue Water Filter 20 Review: Is It Worth the Hype?
Okay, so I needed a new water filter, and I went with the big blue 20-inch one. I’d heard good things, like, “If you’re going to get one, this is the one to get.” Sounds promising, right?
Unboxing and First Impressions
Got the package and started unpacking. It’s pretty hefty, which, I guess, means it’s sturdy? Inside, there’s the filter housing, a wrench (which is super handy), a pressure release button, and the filter cartridge itself. It all looks pretty solid, nothing flimsy.
Installation Time
Alright, time to get this thing installed. First, I turned off the main water supply—don’t want any surprise showers. Then, I found a good spot on the main line after the pressure tank. This is where the filter’s gonna do its job.
I measured and cut the pipe. A bit nerve-wracking, but I managed. Then, I mounted the filter housing on the wall. I made sure it was level because, you know, details matter. After that, I connected the pipes to the housing. I used some plumber’s tape to make sure there were no leaks. Tightened everything up with the wrench.
Putting in the Filter
Next, I unwrapped the filter cartridge. This is the part that actually cleans the water, getting rid of chlorine, bad smells, and a bunch of other nasty stuff. I placed it inside the housing, made sure it was snug, and then screwed the housing back together.
Testing it Out
Turned the water back on slowly, checking for leaks. Thankfully, there were none! I pressed the pressure release button to get rid of any trapped air. Then, I let the water run for a few minutes, like the instructions said. This flushes out any loose stuff in the filter.
The Result
- Water Quality: The water tastes way better. No more weird chlorine smell or taste. It’s actually refreshing.
- Water Pressure: I was worried it might drop, but it’s still strong. No problems there.
- Peace of Mind: Knowing that my water is cleaner makes me feel a lot better, especially for the family.
So, yeah, installing the big blue 20-inch water filter was a bit of a project, but totally worth it. The water’s cleaner, tastes better, and I’m not worried about what’s lurking in there anymore. If you’re thinking about getting a whole house filter, this one’s a solid choice. It wasn’t too hard to install, and it’s definitely made a difference in my home. It removes chlorine, TOC, pharmaceuticals, VOCs, herbicides, solvents, It’s a win-win.
