Buying a Membrane Housing RO? Check This Guide Before You Choose!

Okay, so today I wanted to mess around with this membrane housing RO thing. I’ve seen it around, and it looked interesting, so I figured, why not give it a shot? I started by looking up what this thing even is. Turns out, it’s some kind of filter housing for water.

First, I went and got myself one of these membrane housing deals. It’s basically a big tube. I found a few different kinds, some made of PVC, others made of stainless steel. I picked a stainless steel one because, well, it seemed sturdier.

Next, I had to figure out how to put a membrane inside it. I watched a couple of videos online, and it seemed pretty straightforward. You just kinda slide it in there. I got a membrane – not the same brand as the housing, but it seemed like it would fit.

Install the Membrane

  • I opened up the housing. It has these caps on the ends that you can unscrew.
  • Then I took the membrane and carefully slid it inside the housing. It was a bit snug, but it went in.
  • After that, I screwed the caps back on. It seemed pretty secure.

Then came the fun part – testing it out. I connected some tubes to the housing, one for the water to go in and another for it to come out. I turned on the water, and I could see it flowing through the housing.

I waited for a bit and then collected some of the water that came out. I did a little taste test, and it seemed okay. I don’t have any fancy equipment to test the water quality, but it tasted like normal water to me.

Overall, it was a pretty cool little project. I didn’t run into any major problems. I’m not sure if I’ll use this to filter my drinking water or anything, but it was fun to set up and see how it works. Maybe I’ll try different membranes later and see if there’s any difference.

Anyway, that’s about it for my little membrane housing adventure. It’s not rocket science, but it’s something different to do. If you’re bored and want to mess around with something, maybe give this a try. Just make sure you get the right parts and watch a few tutorials first.
