Does Your Water Contain PFOA? This Water Filter Cartridge Can Help!

So, I’ve been thinking a lot about the water we drink at home. You hear all sorts of stuff these days about what might be lurking in there, stuff you can’t even see or taste. It’s kinda scary, to be honest. I read somewhere that there are these chemicals, “forever chemicals” they call them, that can be found in drinking water. And apparently, they might not be good for us. I did some more digging and found out these things are called PFOA and PFOS. Sounds serious, right?

I started looking into how to figure out if these chemicals were in my water. It turns out it’s not something you can easily tell on your own. You gotta get your water tested, which is a whole process in itself. But it got me thinking, what can I do in the meantime? That’s when I started looking into water filters.

I went down a rabbit hole, let me tell you. There are so many different types of filters out there. It’s a jungle! But I learned a few things. Like, there’s this type called a GAC filter, which stands for Granular Activated Carbon. Sounds fancy, but basically, it’s a type of filter that’s supposed to be good at catching a lot of different things in the water. I read that GAC filter cartridges can usually handle more water than other types of cartridges, so that seemed like a plus.

Then, I started looking for specific products. One that caught my eye was something called a “Clearly Filtered Water Filter Pitcher.” It uses something called “Affinity Filtration,” which, from what I understand, is a step up from regular filtration. Seems like it could be effective, although these pitchers are not cheap. It’s an investment, but I figure, it’s for our health, right? At least that is what I thought. So I ordered one.

Waiting For My New Filter

  • Waited a whole week for it to arrive.

  • Opened the box, read the instructions, which were pretty straightforward.

  • Followed the steps to set it up, which involved soaking the filter cartridge for a certain amount of time.

  • Filled up the pitcher, waited for the water to filter through, which took a little while.

  • Poured myself a glass and… took a sip.

Honestly, I couldn’t really tell a huge difference in taste, but knowing that I was potentially filtering out some of those nasty chemicals made me feel a lot better. Still I think it’s still worth getting my water tested, just to be sure. But for now, I feel like I’m taking a step in the right direction. It’s all about peace of mind, right? And maybe, just maybe, it’s a bit healthier too.
