Get a 10 Big Blue Filter Housing: A Simple Guide!

So, I got this 10 big blue filter housing, and let me tell you, it was quite the weekend project. I’ve been meaning to upgrade my home water filtration system for a while now, and I finally took the plunge. I figured, “How hard could it be?”

First, I had to gather all the stuff I needed. I already had the filter housing, but I also picked up some basic tools, like a wrench and some screws. I read through the instructions a couple of times, you know, just to make sure I had a clue what I was doing. They weren’t super clear, but I managed.

The Installation Process

  • Shutting Off the Water: This was step one, obviously. I turned off the main water supply to the house. No one wants a surprise shower while working on plumbing.
  • Finding the Right Spot: I had to figure out where to install the housing. It needed to be somewhere along the main water line, after the shut-off valve but before any water branches off to different parts of the house.
  • Mounting the Bracket: The housing came with this metal bracket, and I had to mount that to the wall. I grabbed my drill and some screws and got that sucker firmly attached to a stud.
  • Putting the Housing On: Next, I attached the filter housing to the bracket. It was a bit heavy, but I managed to get it in place. The housing had “IN” and “OUT” markings on the top, which was helpful. I made sure to align it correctly with the water flow direction.
  • Connecting the Pipes: I cut into the main water line where I needed to and connect the pipes using the connections.
  • Checking for Leaks: Once everything was connected, I slowly turned the water back on. I kept a close eye on all the connections, watching for any drips or leaks. Luckily, I didn’t find any, which was a huge relief.
  • Flushing the System: After I was sure there were no leaks, I ran the water for a few minutes to flush out any air or debris in the system.

Honestly, the whole process took me most of the day. It wasn’t exactly a walk in the park, but I got it done. And you know what? The water pressure is great, and the water quality seems a lot better. I’m pretty proud of myself for tackling this project. It’s not something I do every day, but it feels good to know I can handle a bit of DIY plumbing when I need to.

If you’re thinking about installing one of these big blue filter housings, I’d say go for it. Just make sure you read the instructions, get all the right tools, and maybe watch a few online videos. It’s definitely doable, even if you’re not a professional plumber. It’s satisfying to improve your home’s water.
