Getting the best 300 gpd ro membrane: A buyers guide
Okay, so the other day, I decided to mess around with my water purifier at home. I wanted to see if I could get it to pump out more water, you know? So, I thought, why not try a bigger membrane? I went for a 300 GPD RO membrane. Let me tell you, it was quite the adventure.
First off, I had to find the right membrane. I read somewhere online that a 75 GPD membrane has a better rejection rate, meaning it cleans the water better and lasts longer. But I was curious about the 300 GPD, just to see how much more water I could get. I figured, more water, more fun, right?
I did some digging and found this Vontron 80 GPD membrane. People seemed to like it for home purifiers. But I wanted something bigger, so I kept searching. Then I stumbled upon the Ionix 300 GPD membrane. It claimed to push out up to 50 liters per hour. That sounded insane, so I had to try it.
Getting the old membrane out was a bit of a hassle. It was snug in there. But with a little elbow grease, I managed to swap it out for the new 300 GPD one. I hooked everything back up, turned on the water, and waited.
The Results
- Water Flow: Man, the water was gushing out! It was way faster than before. I could fill up a glass in no time. This thing was definitely living up to its 300 GPD claim.
- Water Pressure: I learned that feed water pressure is important. It affects how fast the water flows and how well the membrane works. Luckily, my water pressure seemed to be good enough to handle this beast of a membrane.
- Water Quality: Now, I didn’t have any fancy testing equipment, but the water tasted fine. I mean, it was just like before, but there was so much more of it!
In the end, I was pretty stoked with the results. I got way more water, and it didn’t seem to sacrifice the quality. I know some folks online swear by the Dow Filmtec membranes, saying they’re the best, especially for marine water makers. But for my little home experiment, this Ionix 300 GPD membrane worked out great.
It was a fun little project, and I learned a lot about how these membranes work. If you’re thinking about upgrading your water purifier, just make sure you check your water pressure and do some research on the different types of membranes out there. But if you’re feeling adventurous like me, go ahead and try a bigger one – you might be surprised!
