how to choose a ro membrane water filter? Learn essential factors to consider when selecting a reverse osmosis system
Okay, here is my sharing about the RO membrane water filter:
You know what? I’ve been messing with this whole water filter thing at home lately, and let me tell you, it’s been quite a ride. So, I decided to swap out the RO membrane in my water filter system because, well, the water was starting to taste a bit funky, you know? Figured it was time.
First off, I turned off the water supply to the system. Didn’t want any surprise showers while I was working. Then, I grabbed my tools – just some basic stuff, nothing fancy. Located the filter housing where the old membrane was chilling, and got that bad boy out. It looked pretty nasty, to be honest.
- Turned off the water.
- Gathered my wrenches.
- Removed the old membrane.
Now, choosing the new membrane was a whole other story. There are so many types and brands, I felt like I was lost in a maze! I did some reading online, a lot of confusing opinions out there. The stuff I found talked about “feed water pressure” and “rejection rate,”. It is kind of important to get one that works with how much water pressure you’ve got at home, and also how much of the gunk it can filter out.
I ended up picking one that seemed like a good middle ground. Not the cheapest, not the most expensive, but it had decent reviews. I popped the new membrane into the housing, making sure it was snug and all that. Then I tightened everything back up, double-checked for leaks, and turned the water back on.
Initial Flush
But wait, there’s more! You gotta flush the system after you put in a new membrane. I let the water run for a good while, like the instructions said, to get rid of any weird stuff from the manufacturing process. After that, I filled up a glass and took a sip.
I started to taste the water. Ah, much better! It tasted clean and fresh, like it should. It was a bit of a hassle, but definitely worth it. Now I can enjoy my water again without that weird aftertaste. Plus, it’s kind of satisfying to do these things yourself, you know?
This is my sharing. I recorded and shared the whole process here. I hope this helps someone. It is not a big deal but do it and feel it!
