Learn how to change pentair big blue filter in minutes with this guide

Okay, here’s my experience changing a Pentair Big Blue filter:

So, I gotta tell you about the time I changed my Pentair Big Blue filter. First off, I made sure to read all the instructions before I even started, because, you know, safety first. After that, I turned off the water supply to the filter housing. Easy peasy, just a simple turn of the valve.

Then, to release the pressure, I went ahead and opened the faucet that’s closest to the filter housing. You can also press the pressure relief button if your housing has one, mine has one, I just pressed it. I think this is the most important step, or you will get all wet! It’s all about getting that built-up water pressure out of the system.

Dealing with the Valves

  • Shutting off the valves: This was pretty straightforward. I just located the valve on the pipe leading into the filter housing and turned it off. Then I did the same for the valve on the pipe that returns the water back to the house. I saw “IN” and “OUT” words on the cap, maybe it’s helpful. You gotta make sure both of these are completely shut off.

Mounting and Final Steps

I made sure the Big Blue filter housing was installed in the right spot in my water treatment system. The cap was nicely marked with “IN” and “OUT,” so I knew exactly how to position it. Then, I mounted the housing to the bracket. There were some screws, so I grabbed my screwdriver and got it nice and secure. I used the wrench came with the package to unscrew the housing, took out the old filter, and put in a new one. That’s pretty much it. The whole process took me about 20 minutes, and now I have clean and clear water running through my house again!
