Alright, folks, gather ’round! Today, I’m gonna share my little adventure with this 5-micron big blue water filter I got my hands on.

So, the story starts with me noticing the water at my place wasn’t looking too hot. I mean, you could see little bits floating around, and it just didn’t taste right. I figured it was time to do something about it, so I started poking around for a solution.

I’d heard about these water filters, and after a bit of digging, I stumbled upon this “big blue” thing that everyone seemed to be talking about. I’m no plumber, but I’m pretty handy, so I thought, “Why not give it a shot?” I found one that said it could filter down to 5 microns, which sounded good to me.

Now, a “micron,” as I learned, is just a tiny measurement. This filter was supposed to catch anything bigger than 5 microns, which meant it should grab most of the gunk that was making my water look cloudy.

• Getting Started: I ordered the filter online – no fancy store trips for me. When it arrived, it was this big blue cylinder, and I also got the housing that it goes into.
• Installation Time: I shut off the main water line (important, don’t want a flood!), and then it was time to get to work. I’m not gonna lie, it was a bit of a struggle getting the old pipes sorted, but with a little elbow grease, I managed to get the filter housing installed.
• Putting in the Filter: Sliding the 5-micron filter into the housing was easy enough. It fit in there nice and snug. Then, I just had to connect everything back up.

After turning the water back on, I crossed my fingers and hoped for the best. I let the water run for a few minutes, like the instructions said, to flush out any loose stuff from the new filter.

And guess what? The water started looking clearer! I filled up a glass, and it was like night and day compared to before. No more weird floaty bits, and the taste? Way better. It actually tasted clean!

I’ve been using this 5-micron big blue filter for a while now, and I gotta say, I’m pretty happy with it. I do have to swap out the filter every six months or so, because as it said it would, it fills up pretty quick, but it’s not a big deal. I just order a new one online, and it’s a quick switch.

Maintenance:

• Changing Filters: About every six months I have to do the whole filter change thing, but it seems that I do have to pay attention to when it’s getting full so that the water stays clean.

It’s pretty cool how this one little change made such a big difference. I mean, clean water is a big deal, right? So, if you’re dealing with not-so-great water, you might wanna look into one of these big blue filters. They’re not too hard to install, and they really do work!
