I started by shutting off the main water supply to the house. This was pretty straightforward—just turned the main valve until the water stopped. Then, I picked a spot on the main water line for the filter. I wanted it to be somewhere accessible, but also out of the way. After I chose the location I used the pipe cutter to cut out the section where I plan to install the filter housing.

Next, I wrapped the threads of the inlet and outlet ports on the filter housing with Teflon tape. This is important to prevent leaks. With everything connected and the filter in place, I slowly turned the main water supply back on. I checked for leaks around the fittings and the housing. Luckily, there were no leaks! I let the water run for a few minutes to flush out any air and debris in the system.
