Shoe UV Sterilizer: How Effective Is It? Keep Your Shoes Fresh and Clean!

Okay, so the other day I got this thing called a shoe UV sterilizer. I’ve been seeing them around, and you know, with all the talk about germs and stuff, I figured, why not give it a try? My shoes can get pretty funky, especially after a workout or a long day.

First, I went to the mall and bought this device. I picked one up that looked pretty decent – not too big, not too small. It’s this box-like thingy with a lid, and it has these UV lights inside. The instructions said it could kill like 99.9% of bacteria, so I was feeling pretty good about my purchase.

When I got home, I decided to test it out on my oldest, smelliest pair of sneakers. The process seemed simple enough. I placed my shoes inside the device, closed the lid, and pressed the power button. There’s this cool blue light that comes on, and you can see it through a little window on the top.

This particular model takes about 15 minutes to do its thing. The instructions called it “PediFix ShoeZap“. It’s supposed to be enough time for the UV light to zap all the nasty stuff living in my shoes. So, I set it up and just let it run while I did some other chores around the house. I wanted to wash the bottom part, too. So I sprayed some disinfectant on a cotton cloth, and scrub it. I had some hydrogen peroxide, I used some of that too, it seems to work. I know that some folks use washing machine, but I didn’t like that.

After the 15 minutes were up, the device turned off automatically. I opened it up, and honestly, I couldn’t really tell if it made a difference just by looking. But there was a slight difference in the smell – they definitely smelled fresher. I guess only time will tell if it actually keeps my shoes cleaner and less smelly in the long run. It claims that one size ultraviolet shoe sanitizer fits all footwear styles and sizes. It keeps shoes microscopically clean. I think it is more hygienic and safer to wear.

Overall, I’d say it’s a pretty neat gadget. It’s easy to use, and it gives me some peace of mind knowing that I’m doing something extra to keep my shoes clean. If you’re someone who’s concerned about germs or just wants to keep your shoes smelling fresh, I think it’s worth checking out. I’ll probably keep using it regularly, especially for my gym shoes.

I mean, it’s not like I’m going to be inspecting my shoes under a microscope, but hey, every little bit helps, right? I found it a good try.
