Upgrade Your Water Filter: All About the 600 GPD RO Membrane!

Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with this 600 GPD RO membrane for my under-sink water filter. I wanted to make sure we were drinking some good, clean water, and this seemed like a solid way to do it. I mean, who wants to drink nasty tap water, right?

First, I got my hands on this VonWater reverse osmosis system. It’s supposed to meet some NSF/ANSI standards, so I figured it must be legit. They call it the WD-G3P600-RO, and it’s got this model number thing, WD-G3P600. Apparently, it’s certified for NSF 58 & 372, which sounded good enough for me. The thing is pretty compact, about 4.3 x 4.3 x 15 inches. And the filter is supposed to last for 2 years. It’s like, the size of my forearm, but a bit thicker.

I started by clearing out the space under my sink. It was a mess down there! I had to move a bunch of cleaning supplies and some old pots and pans that we never use. Once I had some room, I got to work. The water where I live has some silica thing, which makes the water taste funny, so I thought getting a better filter system would do the trick.

Installing it was a bit of a pain. I’m not the handiest guy, to be honest. But I followed the instructions, and after a couple of hours, I had it all hooked up. It was a tight fit, but I managed to squeeze it in there. The best part is that this thing is supposed to save like 75% of the space compared to those bulky systems with tanks. I don’t have room for that kind of nonsense under my sink. Besides, it’s 13.3”x 5.2”x 15.6”.

The first time I turned it on, I was kind of amazed. I filled up a 330ml cup in about 10 seconds. That’s pretty fast! I mean, it’s not instant, but it’s way better than waiting forever for a glass of water. I tested it out a few times, filling up some bottles for the fridge. I was thirsty, what can I say? It did feel pretty good to just use the tap for once.

The company that makes it, VonWater, they say it’s a “tankless” design. Apparently, this thing can filter up to 600 gallons per day. I don’t know if we’ll ever need that much, but it’s nice to know it can handle it. I’ve heard some people say that higher GPD membranes aren’t always better and cost more. But for our needs, especially with my big family, it seemed like the right choice. And honestly, I feel better knowing we’re not chugging down all the junk that’s in regular tap water.

I gotta say, the water tastes way better now. It’s clean and crisp. It’s like night and day compared to what we were drinking before. I even did a little taste test with my family, and everyone agreed. It’s a small change, but it makes a big difference in our daily routine. Plus, the filters are supposed to be high-quality and US-made, with some fancy Dupont RO membrane, so I’m hoping this thing will last us a good while.

So, yeah, that’s my little adventure with the 600 GPD RO membrane. It was a bit of work to set up, but totally worth it. Now we’ve got clean water on tap, and I don’t have to worry about what we’re drinking. If you’re thinking about upgrading your water filter, I’d say go for it. Just make sure you clear out enough space under your sink!
