Watts Big Blue Filter Housing: Easy Installation Guide and Top User Reviews

Okay, here is my blog post about my experience with the Watts Big Blue filter housing:

So, I finally got around to installing that Watts Big Blue filter housing. Let me tell you, it was a bit of a journey, but I’m glad I did it. It was not as easy as I expected.

First off, I went out and got the filter housing itself. It’s this big, blue thing, pretty hefty. You can tell it’s made to last. Then, I had to figure out where to install it. I decided to put it right where the main water line comes into the house. That way, it filters all the water we use.

Next up, I gathered all my tools. I needed a wrench, some pipe cutters, and some other basic stuff. I’m not a plumber, just a regular guy, so I made sure to double-check everything before I started. I watched a bunch of videos online. You know, just to make sure I had a clue about what I was doing.

I shut off the main water supply – that’s super important, you don’t want a surprise shower. Then, I started cutting into the pipe. It was a bit nerve-wracking, making that first cut. Once the pipe was cut, I had to connect the filter housing. It was a bit tricky to get everything lined up and tightened, but I took my time and finally got it done.

  • Made the cut on the main water line after turning off the water.
  • Aligned the filter housing with the cut ends of the pipe.
  • Used a wrench to tighten the fittings. Pretty straightforward.
  • Checked for leaks by slowly turning the water back on.

After everything was connected, I slowly turned the water back on. I was holding my breath, hoping I didn’t mess anything up. And guess what? No leaks! I was so relieved. I let the water run for a few minutes to flush out the new filter.

Honestly, the whole process took me a good part of the afternoon. But seeing that clear, filtered water coming out of the tap made it all worth it. Plus, I saved some money by doing it myself instead of calling a plumber. It is fun and I get to learn something, but be careful. If you are not sure how to do, it is better to find a plumber. It is not easy as it looks.

Final Thoughts

In the end, installing the Watts Big Blue filter housing was a bit of a challenge, but it was totally doable. If you’re thinking about doing it yourself, I’d say go for it. Just make sure you do your research and take your time. And if you are not sure how to do, it is better to find a plumber. And hey, if I can do it, you probably can too!

I will see how it goes in the next few weeks, and decide whether I should leave a review for it.
